Vibrational Pre-Paving

It’s has been awhile since I blogged here and I want to catch you up. In December I decided to have my thyroid removed. Most of you know that holistic medicine is important to me and I talk about this in my book 12 Weeks to Self-Healing: Transforming Pain through Energy Medicine.

After finding I had a lump in my throat attached to my thyroid, rather than taking the doctor’s suggestion to have surgery I chose having ultrasounds every six months while I worked on self-healing. At first the growth stayed the same, but then another lump began to grow on the other side. The physical risk was that it would grow and wrap around my esophagus. I decided to have my thyroid removed. There was an emotional attachment to keeping all my organs, but this turned out to be a great decision.

My energy is much better and I can shift my weight now by diet and exercise, whereas before it was difficult to affect a change. It took some time to recover and much has happened since then which I’ll share in future blogs.

Today I want to share with you a video I listened to this morning as I walked Domingo along the Spokane river. This is Esther Hicks channeling Abraham. The topic is Weight Loss and Vibrational Pre-Paving which is “Thinking about a positive outcome from the action you’re about to take part in.”  Enjoy!

How Do I Lose Weight?

There is an organizing wisdom in the Universe.

A person can work with and learn from this wisdom.

To work with the wisdom is to be proactive.

Dr. Patrick Dougherty

Support is so important when you have a goal, and especially when you want to lose weight. I have asked one of my main support people, Dr. Patrick Dougherty if he would be a guest blogger before the New Year!  Dr. Pat is the author of “Do you Wanna get Better?  The Future of Health Care” and co-author of Quantum Healing: The Synergy of Chiropractic and Reiki.

In my recovery from surgery, Dr. Pat has been a godsend and I will share more about this later.

 How Do I Lose Weight?

Sorry to make this complicated, but there are many factors to consider when it comes to losing weight. That is why the plan that works for one person does not always work for another.

Many of you have probably heard the phrase, “calories in, calories out.” This means if you burn more calories than you eat you will lose weight. It is true that one of the best ways to lose weight is to simply eat less. Unfortunately, weight loss is not always that simple.

The fly in the ointment when it comes to weight loss is hormones. Insulin and hypoglycemia kick off the hormone interference problem. Once a person consistently eats too many simple carbohydrates the hormone weight loss battle is on, and you likely end up the loser.

Once insulin loses control of carbohydrate metabolism leptin, ghrelin, cortisol, estrogen, glucagon, and fat cells (yes fat is a hormone) get involved in a circular mess of hormone feedback loops. Next binding chemicals prevent thyroid and sex hormones from doing their job. The end result can be perpetual weight gain and no weight loss, even when you diet and exercise.

The answer is to find out what your underlying challenges are, and then address them. This might mean eliminating foods, taking supplements, changing your food plan to implement things like intermittent fasting, getting your nervous system to function better, eliminating toxins, even dealing with emotional issues.

If you are one of those unfortunate souls who exercise, diet and still can’t lose weight; or even gain weight, it might be time to look deeper. I use Clinical Kinesiology muscle testing in my office to investigate all of the factors listed above. Then I will work with to tailor your diet to your individual challenges. Saliva and blood tests are available when necessary. If you are looking for a comprehensive plan to put you on the right track to eating your way to health, contact us for an appointment today at 509-327-4373.

My feet are dragging . . .

When people say “If I only knew then what I know now” makes me wonder why they aren’t using that wisdom now.

 Rob Liano

Luke and Candess

Luke and Candess

As much as Luke Brady prepared me before he left on vacation, I didn’t follow through.  At the gym he went over all my exercises and weights  and wrote them down.  Today I have a training appointment with Luke and although I am looking forward to getting back on track, my feet are dragging.

What I did do while he was on vacation. Weights at home, Yoga at the Yasodhara Yoga Center, road my recumbent bike and walked Domingo at least once a day. Nevertheless, it was not enough!

Previously, I blogged about accountability and this is a great testament to my needing to be held accountable. Although my feet are dragging, I am ready to get back to it!

Wish me luck!

(And for all my clients who I hold accountable and know me to be a tough counselor or coach; this is your one chance to call me on walking my talk!)

Psychic?

“Many people look for medical intuitive readings. With study, I learned that all physical issues relate to emotional issues and, at the core, to the belief beneath those emotions. With this knowledge, I began adding psychic readings to my private practice.”

Candess M. Campbell

12 Weeks to Self-Healing: Transforming Pain through Energy Medicine

Today I have a Psychic Gallery Reading in Bend, Oregon. Many of us have Psychic abilities and we often stop using them as children. If we are not told to stop making things up by our parents, we are later made fun of by our peers.

Whenever I teach classes on Clairvoyance, my students begin to remember the stories of how they were able to access their intuition when young. We all get “gut feelings” and the more you acknowledge this and pay attention to it, the more it develops.

You can take a notebook and just jot down your intuitive thoughts when they come up and later go back and look over what you wrote. You will notice you are way more intuitive than your mind remembers.

It is important to allow your children and grandchildren to share their stories, whether they be “made up” friends and images or their true intuition, play along and let them stay connected to their inner wisdom. Over time they will let go of what is made up and continue to hold onto what is intuition.

Saboteur Archetype

“What drains your spirit drains your body. What fuels your spirit fuels your body.”

 Caroline MyssAnatomy of the Spirit

It was an easy seven hour drive to Sisters, Oregon and when I arrived, I was so happy to spend time with my dear friends Doug and Katie Cavanaugh. Matthew Kocel, one of the speakers at The Healer’s Gathering was there too and I was able to listen to them jam! Dancing was fun too!

Katie Cavanaugh

Katie Cavanaugh

Where I really messed up on the drive though, was getting my second sugar-free soy latte on the road. Somehow my wisdom went out the door and almost half of my food intake was from lattes. Feel free to share why soy, coffee, and sugar free products are not healthy. I get it!

Doug Cavanaugh and Matthew Kocel

Rather than beating myself up though, I am going to journal and explore the Saboteur within. This clearly was a self-sabotaging behavior. According to the teachings of Caroline Myss there are 4 main archetypes we all share. They are the Child, Victim, Saboteur and Prostitute.

From Caroline’s Sacred Contracts class, her book and my own experiences, I have created a list of characteristics of the Saboteur archetype. The Saboteur Archetype is the Guardian of Choice.

The core issue of the Saboteur is fear of inviting changes into your life; changes that shape and deepen your spirit.

  • The other side of destruction is rebuilding and rebirth.

  • Use the saboteur to consciously dismantle areas of your life you need to fix or heal.

  • Makes itself known through disruption and resistance.

  • You can silence the saboteur with acts of courage and following your intuition. Listen to the small voice and make choices – small ones to begin with.

  • The shadow saboteur will play on your fears that you are not good enough to accomplish anything on your own.

  • We are afraid that if we are enlightened we will be alone, wont’ be vulnerable, capable of sensual love, so we feed the shadow saboteur, the part of use that is fragmented.

  • We fear empowerment because we think it will remove us from the warmth and comfort of loved ones.

  • We fear empowerment because we don’t want to be responsible for our actions and therefore consciously or unconsciously encourage our weakness and hold onto our fears; we do want to be around others that are empowered or enlightened though.

  • Work with your saboteur to see where you may be doing yourself in (what are you doing you know you should not be doing and what you are not doing that you know you should be doing?

  • When you make the saboteur your ally it can call your attention to ways you might be sabotaged or sabotage yourself and then you can make other choices The intellect of the scarecrow can work with your saboteur to alert you to when you are doing yourself in.

Join with me and delve into your own Saboteur and become clearer on your own Choices!

Dreams

“I believe in everything until it’s disproved. So I believe in fairies, the myths, dragons. It all exists, even if it’s in your mind. Who’s to say that dreams and nightmares aren’t as real as the here and now?”

John Lennon

Whatever you believe about God or the Divine, we all share one thing in common. We all dream. Whether you have fun dreams, fantasy dreams, detailed and confusing dreams or nightmares: you do dream.

My belief is that there is a part of you that you can access what some call your “Higher Self.” This is the wise part of you that is mostly subconscious and continues to communicate with you at a subtle level. Your ego often blocks this information, in an attempt to stay in control and so you aren’t overwhelmed with too much information at once. It is a filter and the “old guard.”

book_radha_realities

Your dreams are messages from this wise “Higher Self,” and when worked with on a consistent basis or even occasionally with a powerful dream, you can change your life in amazing ways!

Many of my students and clients have said they don’t remember their dreams. The way to change this is to put a notebook and fast writing pen by your bed every night. Before you fall asleep, ask yourself to remember your dreams in the nighttime. If you awake in the night, write your dream down or do it in the morning. Remember, dreams are fleeting, so you will need to practice to capture them!

dream

For those who are techier, grab your smart phone and record the dream into it and email the message to yourself. You will be amazed to find the email in your inbox in the morning!

Reading books on dreams helps you to remember them. These are my favorite books that will not only help you remember, but will also assist you in finding out what your Higher Self has to say to you!

Realities of the Dreaming Mind: The Practice of Dream Yoga, by Swami Sivananda Radha

Where People Fly and Water Runs Uphill: Using Dreams to Tap the Wisdom of the Unconscious, by Jeremy Taylor.

Continued awareness, continued consciousness frees up the blocks that keep you from becoming healthy, active and fully alive!

Spokefest – What a Ride!

It’s my view that the best exercise routine for you is the one you will do consistently.

Candess M. Campbell  –  12 Weeks to Self-Healing: Transforming Pain through Energy Medicine

Planning ahead is important. This morning here in Spokane, we have the Spokefest Event.    This is where over 2000 cyclists get together for a fun ride. If you remember, I just had my bike tuned up, but I was not tuned in. I didn’t know about the event until yesterday when I saw the signs in my neighborhood asking us to watch out for cyclists on Sunday. As I watched thousands of cyclists ride by, I am green with envy.

What I did though is put it on my calendar so I can sign up for 2015! Motivated by the energy of the riders, I’ll have my own personal ride later today and be happy that I am healthy and have a great bike.

Hope this motivates you too! Enjoy the video!

Sentence Stems

“A sad feeling can last a few minutes, and then you return to joy once you feel the pure feeling and let it go. Much as you would flex a muscle and let it go, you can feel the feeling and just let it go.”

–   Candess M. Campbell – 12 Weeks to Self-Healing: Transforming Pain through Energy Medicine

I sat with a client recently who’s working on developing a practice of journaling in order to deepen her relationship with herself.  She laughs when she is saying something painful and tends to be disconnected from her feelings. She seems to be incongruent. I’ve given her some sentence stems to use. Sentence stems are beginnings of sentences to use to begin a free-writing session. I create these sentence stems specific to the issues that have been buried. This particular client uses alcohol, shopping, and staying busy as a way of not getting connected to herself; not becoming self-aware.

I’ve journaled over 30 years of my life and it has been an incredible experience of growth, insight, creativity and humor. You would be surprised at what surfaces in a 20-minute timed writing.

2In the process of working with a Sentence Stem, you set the timer for 20 minutes, or 10 if 20 seems to long to start with. You use a fast writing pen and keep writing. Whatever comes to your mind you write, even if you have several lines of “I don’t know what to say, I don’t know what to say.” Generally, you will start by being chatty, then go into resistance, “I don’t know what to say” or “I don’t like this,” and then you deepen into the underlying issue. You may notice that you touch on something and then change to writing your grocery list, but at least you know where to return to access the underlying issue or feelings.

Often when we overeat or over drink, or eat at the wrong time, we are covering up feelings. If not feelings directly, we may be over-consuming to manage the stress from all the activity we do to bury the feelings.

In my book 12 Weeks to Self-Healing: Transforming Pain through Energy Medicine, I write a whole chapter entitled Feel your Feelings.

Today, before you make a choice to eat or drink something you know is not healthy, give yourself 20 minutes to journal first. Notice how you feel afterwards and see if it changes your need for the food or drink.

Here are a few sentence stems to start with.

  • If I listened to my body, I would . . .

  • What I desire most in my life is . . .

  • If I were fit/healthy, I would . . .

Comment below and let me know how you did!

Compromise

“I can accept anything, except what seems to be the easiest for most people: the half-way, the almost, the just-about, the in-between.”     ― Ayn Rand

Several years ago when I was struggling with adrenal fatigue my boyfriend and I were planning a trip to Italy. Venice was on my bucket list, but he insisted on Florence. Since he was flying us first class I was not going to argue.

Venice

Venice, Italy

Later we dreamed about our trip and shared with each other. He envisioned having a delicious cup of Italian coffee and breakfast on the veranda. At that time, one cup of coffee would have wiped out my adrenals for the day and I shared I would be having a cup of tea.

Well, he would have none of that! It was Italy! It had to be coffee, and the argument ensued!

Looking back, it seems silly that I would not have one cup of coffee, but the reality is, my body was in a crisis. A few months after that, I couldn’t function well at all. For almost a year, most days I only had the energy to see one client a day, could rarely walk my dog and learned to take baths because I couldn’t stand long enough to shower.

Well, the coffee disagreement was one of many times I couldn’t have an opinion in this relationship and soon it dissolved.

Now though, I see how easy it was for me to compromise my bucket list and how unwilling I was to compromise my health.

This is a good reminder today and everyday as I make choices around my health.
