Body is not made of Marble

wolf

“The idea in our culture of body solely as sculpture is Wrong. Body is not marble. That is not its purpose. It’s purpose is to protect, contain, support, and fire the spirit and soul within it, to be a repository for memory, to fill us with feeling – that is the supreme psychic nourishment. It is to lift us and propel us, to fill us with the feeling to prove that we exist, that we are here, to give us grounding, heft, weight. It is wrong to think of it as a place we leave in order to soar to the spirit. The body is the launcher of those experiences. Without body there would be no sensations of crossing thresholds, there would be no sense of lifting, no sense of height, weightlessness. All that comes from the body. The body is the rocket launcher. In its nose capsule, the soul looks out the window into the mysterious starry night and is dazzled.”

Astrological Forecast for March 2015

new moon

March 5th: Full Moon in Virgo/Pisces at 10:05 am PSTThe final Full Moon of winter in Virgo/Pisces coincides with completions for those with planets or chart angles in the mutable signs of Virgo/Pisces near 15 degrees.

March 12th: Mercury enters Pisces at 8:51 pm PDTThe collective communications of the global village turn toward the intuitive dimensions as Mercury reenters the mystical sign of Pisces where it joins Neptune, Chiron, and the Sun for some spiritual solace two days after transiting Mars in Aries triggered changes and eruptions between transiting Uranus in Aries square Pluto in Capricorn.

March 14th: Saturn turns retrograde in Sagittarius at 8:02 am PDTTransiting Saturn pauses in the sign of Sagittarius at 4 deg 55 min and reverses direction after 7 months of forward motion. Saturn will retrace its steps from March 14th through August 1st 2015 when it will turn direct in Scorpio at 28 deg 16 min.

March 16th: Uranus in Aries & Pluto in Capricorn final exact square aspect.  The two Cardinal Titans Uranus and Pluto complete their 7th and final global initiation agreement that began in June 2012 and completes this month.  Uranus will now take the lead ahead of Pluto going forward, although their respective retrograde cycles will reunite them in another square aspect within 2 degrees of each other from December 2015 through the winter season of 2016.

March 17th: Venus enters Taurus at 3:14 am PDTLady Venus returns to terra firma placing her feet back on Earth after distancing herself from a bittersweet Valentine’s fling with Mars in Aries. March 20th:  New Moon/ Solar Eclipse in Pisces at 2:36 am PDT & Vernal Equinox at 3:45 pm PDTToday’s Solar Eclipse in the final degree of Pisces takes center stage in the morning and then leaves the stage placing the afternoon spotlight on the Sun’s arrival in Aries ushering in the spring season.

March 30th: Mercury enters Aries at 6:43 pm PDT.   Fleet-footed Mercury catches up with the spring team of the Sun, Mars & Uranus in the sign of Aries just in time for spring training.

March 31st: Mars enters Taurus at 9:26 am PDTThe warrior planet leaves Aries to pursue Lady Venus in Taurus only to find himself distracted by the allure of a more harmonious feminine aspect with today’s Moon in Virgo.

Improvising or am I just plain spoiled!

“You are a manipulator.  I like to think of myself more as an outcome engineer.”

― J.R. WardLover Eternal

Wow, previously I posted about pairing my working (which is easy for me to do each day) with exercise, which is much more difficult because I am often working. In the earlier post, I showed the photo of my Kindle on the plastic shelf on my recumbent bike. It was easy for me to ride for 10 miles that day!

And then I thought – what about watching webinars or writing blogs, or updating my websites while I was riding my bike! Look what I found!

I now have a plastic tray that holds my Mac Air laptop. I decided to give it to myself for my birthday which is in February. I am not much of a shopper, but I do splurge around my birthday!

Okay! This is great! Let’s see how I do!

Share with me ways you get yourself to show up for your exercise routine.

January 3rd: Venus enters Aquarius at 6:48 am PST.  Venus partners with Mars in the fixed air Aquarius sign of friends, colleagues, and associates gracing the arrival of 2015.

January 4th: Mercury enters Aquarius at 5:08 pm PST.  The messenger planet joins Venus and Mars in the spirit of Aquarian fellowship contributing to an expansive sense of compassion and goodwill in the midst of a transformational Full Moon in today’s “Cardinal Cross” aspect.

new moon

January 4th: Full Moon in Cancer/Capricorn at 14 deg 31 min at 8:53 pm PST.  The first Full Moon of 2015 activates a brief “Cardinal Cross” aspect with Uranus in Aries, Pluto in Capricorn, and the Moon’s Nodes in Libra/Aries. This aspect represents an initiatory echo from last April’s “Cardinal Cross” alignment that coincided with completions and new beginnings both collectively and personally during the Spring Season of 2014. By February 2015 the powerful transits of the past year will begin to fade.

January 12th: Mars enters Pisces at 2:21 am PST. The planet of action arrives in the mystical waters of Pisces reminding us to test the waters in making choices following any New Year resolutions we promised ourselves. Transiting Mars will enter its native sign of Aries on February 19th beginning a 40-day period for taking action after testing the waters of our resolutions.

Full Moon

January 20th: Super New Moon in Aquarius at 5:14 am PST. The Sun and Moon merge in the early minutes of a single degree of longitude in the sign of Aquarius on January 20th resulting in a rare Aquarius New Moon double header event followed by a second Super New Moon in the final degree of Aquarius on February 18th ushering in the Chinese New Year.

January 21st:  Mercury stations retrograde in Aquarius at 7:54 am PST.  The first Mercury retrograde of 2015 is in the sign of Aquarius insisting that we consider the bigger picture of how we as individuals fit into the collective community of the global village. Mercury will station direct at 1 degree in Aquarius on February 11th.

January 27th:  Venus enters Pisces. Lady Venus completes Her New Year visit in Aquarius to serve as a muse with Mars, Chiron, and Neptune in Pisces through February 19th.

Bless your heart,

How Do I Lose Weight?

There is an organizing wisdom in the Universe.

A person can work with and learn from this wisdom.

To work with the wisdom is to be proactive.

Dr. Patrick Dougherty

Support is so important when you have a goal, and especially when you want to lose weight. I have asked one of my main support people, Dr. Patrick Dougherty if he would be a guest blogger before the New Year!  Dr. Pat is the author of “Do you Wanna get Better?  The Future of Health Care” and co-author of Quantum Healing: The Synergy of Chiropractic and Reiki.

In my recovery from surgery, Dr. Pat has been a godsend and I will share more about this later.

 How Do I Lose Weight?

Sorry to make this complicated, but there are many factors to consider when it comes to losing weight. That is why the plan that works for one person does not always work for another.

Many of you have probably heard the phrase, “calories in, calories out.” This means if you burn more calories than you eat you will lose weight. It is true that one of the best ways to lose weight is to simply eat less. Unfortunately, weight loss is not always that simple.

The fly in the ointment when it comes to weight loss is hormones. Insulin and hypoglycemia kick off the hormone interference problem. Once a person consistently eats too many simple carbohydrates the hormone weight loss battle is on, and you likely end up the loser.

Once insulin loses control of carbohydrate metabolism leptin, ghrelin, cortisol, estrogen, glucagon, and fat cells (yes fat is a hormone) get involved in a circular mess of hormone feedback loops. Next binding chemicals prevent thyroid and sex hormones from doing their job. The end result can be perpetual weight gain and no weight loss, even when you diet and exercise.

The answer is to find out what your underlying challenges are, and then address them. This might mean eliminating foods, taking supplements, changing your food plan to implement things like intermittent fasting, getting your nervous system to function better, eliminating toxins, even dealing with emotional issues.

If you are one of those unfortunate souls who exercise, diet and still can’t lose weight; or even gain weight, it might be time to look deeper. I use Clinical Kinesiology muscle testing in my office to investigate all of the factors listed above. Then I will work with to tailor your diet to your individual challenges. Saliva and blood tests are available when necessary. If you are looking for a comprehensive plan to put you on the right track to eating your way to health, contact us for an appointment today at 509-327-4373.

Your Biography is Your Biology

The soul always knows what to do to heal itself.

The challenge is to silence the mind.

Caroline Myss

First of all I want to wish you a Happy Holiday!

th

There has been so much that has happened in the last few weeks and my apologies for not staying on track here.

Finally, after two years of ultra-sounds and watching the lump near my thyroid grow, I decided to have my thyroid removed. The self-healing tools I used were helpful in some areas, but did not heal the thyroid.

This was a difficult decision because I believe in self-healing, but in my book 12 Weeks to Self-Healing: Transforming through Energy Medicine, I also write self-healing is sometimes the decision to use medication or allopathic medicine.

Carolyn Myss, a medical intuitive, says that “your biography is your biology” and I believe this to be true. I have been journaling and reflecting and looking at what emotional and energetic patterns are related to the problem in my fifth chakra (The Power of Communication.) I am clear on some and not on others and will be sharing this in the future.

Prior to the removal of my thyroid and the plum size lump, as well as the new lump that the doctor said looked “suspicious,” I communicated with my thyroid and could clearly see that the lump was encompassing it. What the doctor said was that is was what they call an “angry” thyroid. It made sense to me that I would be tired all the time because my body was doing everything it could to heal the thyroid.

For now though, I am grateful that my energy is much better. I wake up feeling energized and at night I am “sleepy” not the usual “tired” all the time.

I am on track again and my focus is to increase my energy by even more movement in the next month. I will return to weight training next week, and Domingo is waiting for the long walk I promised him.

Mom, let's go!
Mom, let’s go!

Here is a Journal Exercise I often use. I think you’ll like it.

 Inventory

Your journal is a great place to inventory yourself. If you need to be uplifted, write things about yourself that make you feel good. If you are stuck, you might find it useful to write about what you would like to change. I love what Caroline Myss recommended at a workshop I attended. She suggested, “Write out everything you are doing you know you should not be doing and everything you are not doing you know that you should be doing.”10

Does my thyroid make me gain weight?

Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.

― Hippocrates

There is so much written about the thyroid and sometimes I hear that an unhealthy thyroid can have a great affect on your ability to gain and lose weight.  Other information says the opposite.

Medical issues can affect not only your weight, but also your moods. Those who are on medication also have side effects that they need to take into account.

Today I’ll share a video I watched recently.

Anger craves Sugar!

The truth will set you free, but first it will piss you off.

― Gloria Steinem

Most people who know me say that I am calm. I think my tendency is to be able to see several sides of a situation and be to accepting. I have a good sense of taking responsibility for myself and looking at my side of a situation and how I have contributed to the problem.

moodblog2

I have been processing the last week. I found myself having generalized anger and I have been throwing it out in different arenas. I am not sure how to describe it, but in what I might call social or public arenas.

One was with Aweber, my email service. There was a long-standing problem that cost me upwards of a thousand dollars. The other was with Comcast where my telephone, television and Internet performed poorly this week.

No need to go into the details, but I have been “running anger” in my body for a few days and it has been extremely uncomfortable. This is unusual for me. What I have been doing is noticing the anger in my body and feeling the sensations. It has been important for me to be loving and nurturing to myself because anger can create some major issues given I have adrenal fatigue. It can really wipe me out.

With anger, I need to assess the situation and either make a change or accept the situation. With Aweber, I have decided to change to a new email marketing program, even though I may lose many of my contacts. With Comcast, I decided I will call them and discuss the situation (again) and see about resolving the issues, even though it takes a lot of my time.

In the process of these few days of “angering” though, I realized that I have eaten more sugar than usual and have also enjoyed wine as a way of taking the edge off.

Neither of these is the best solution. Hindsight tells me to journal before I reach for another solution!

Anger is a secondary emotion. It covers up pain and fear. I also have had a sense of wanting to cry, but not being able to and not knowing why. More will come in another blog . . . or as my late, former husband Peter Campbell used to say . . . “More will be revealed.”

Penance

Penance, reminded my brother is a very lonely place.

Sarah Winman , When God Was a Rabbit

Okay, I was back to the gym and Luke, my trainer changed up my routine. In the racquetball court he set up a ladder. Okay, I was ready to do penance since I exercised less that I would have liked when he was on vacation. I felt like an athlete running through these ropes.

photo

Luke asked me if I was okay with myself or upset with myself since I didn’t follow through with the program he set up for me to do when he was gone. That was a good question. The truth is, I have been loving and compassionate with myself in this process of losing weight and increasing my health.

At this point, I need to eat less to continue losing weight and I need to increase my cardio. What I noticed is that on the days I went to the gym I walked Domingo longer and more often. I was more active all day long. On the days I didn’t go to the gym, I was less active.

Today, I’m not ready to make a specific commitment toward increasing cardio on a regular basis, but in the twilight state tonight, right before I fall asleep, I will prime my subconscious by seeing myself doing several activities to raise my heart rate such as riding my bike, walking faster or running, and my favorite – dancing!

I believe in being gentle with myself. Having adrenal fatigue has taught me that pushing myself just pushes me down, and encouraging, loving, and rewarding myself allows me to be positive and honest with myself.
