How Do I Lose Weight?

There is an organizing wisdom in the Universe.

A person can work with and learn from this wisdom.

To work with the wisdom is to be proactive.

Support is so important when you have a goal, and especially when you want to lose weight. I have asked one of my main support people, Dr. Patrick Dougherty if he would be a guest blogger before the New Year!  Dr. Pat is the author of “Do you Wanna get Better?  The Future of Health Care” and co-author of Quantum Healing: The Synergy of Chiropractic and Reiki.

In my recovery from surgery, Dr. Pat has been a godsend and I will share more about this later.

 How Do I Lose Weight?

Sorry to make this complicated, but there are many factors to consider when it comes to losing weight. That is why the plan that works for one person does not always work for another.

Many of you have probably heard the phrase, “calories in, calories out.” This means if you burn more calories than you eat you will lose weight. It is true that one of the best ways to lose weight is to simply eat less. Unfortunately, weight loss is not always that simple.

The fly in the ointment when it comes to weight loss is hormones. Insulin and hypoglycemia kick off the hormone interference problem. Once a person consistently eats too many simple carbohydrates the hormone weight loss battle is on, and you likely end up the loser.

Once insulin loses control of carbohydrate metabolism leptin, ghrelin, cortisol, estrogen, glucagon, and fat cells (yes fat is a hormone) get involved in a circular mess of hormone feedback loops. Next binding chemicals prevent thyroid and sex hormones from doing their job. The end result can be perpetual weight gain and no weight loss, even when you diet and exercise.

The answer is to find out what your underlying challenges are, and then address them. This might mean eliminating foods, taking supplements, changing your food plan to implement things like intermittent fasting, getting your nervous system to function better, eliminating toxins, even dealing with emotional issues.

If you are one of those unfortunate souls who exercise, diet and still can’t lose weight; or even gain weight, it might be time to look deeper. I use Clinical Kinesiology muscle testing in my office to investigate all of the factors listed above. Then I will work with to tailor your diet to your individual challenges. Saliva and blood tests are available when necessary.
